The Compliance Audit Committee met Tuesday and last night to consider whether or not to commence legal proceedings against the six candidates for whom compliance audit applications were filed.  After hearing from the auditors, legal counsel, the applicants and candidates, the Committee determined not to take any further action on any of the applications.  It also found there were reasonable grounds for each of the applications and therefore no recommendation will go forward to Council to recover the auditor’s costs.  In order to recover costs, there would have to be a finding of no apparent contraventions and a finding of no reasonable grounds for the application.  There were apparent contraventions found for each candidate. The election is finally over in Fort Erie.
