Fort Erie, May 24, 2012: The short ceremony to officially commemorate the ground breaking of the new Central Fire Station will take place on Monday, May 28th at 5:00 p.m. The Fort Erie Fire Department and its dedicated volunteers are extremely excited to see the project moving forward. “After years of planning and hard work, we are very pleased to have construction of the new station underway” said Chief Coplen.
The new fire station will be located at 444 Central Avenue in Fort Erie, adjacent to the Fort Erie Railroad Museum
Key facts:
- The concept of co-locating the existing Fire Station #1 and #2 was approved and incorporated in the design of the new station.
- On May 7th, 2012, the construction tender was awarded to Collaborative Structures Limited.
- Parking, signage and landscaping upgrades will improve site integration with the Railroad Museum and Lion’s Sugarbowl Park.
- The total cost of the project is just over $4 million “This is a fantastic project that represents an investment in the future of our Town”, said Mayor Doug Martin.
The new Fire Station is expected to be operational by May 2013.
