Canadian Motor Speedway: OMB Hearing wraps up earlier than expected

FORT ERIE, June 29, 2012 – The much anticipated Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) appeal on the Canadian Motor Speedway concluded yesterday, one day earlier than the two weeks originally planned for the first set of hearing dates. The additional two weeks that had been set aside in November will no longer be required, thanks in part to a previous settlement between one of the major appellants and the Speedway.

OMB Chair S. Shiller has reserved the OMB’s decision and will prepare a written decision in the near future.

“The Town believes that its evidence was well received by the OMB and is extremely optimistic about the upcoming decision. Discussions are ongoing with the Province and the Region to fast track this amazing opportunity”, stated Acting CAO, Ron Tripp.
