The Town hosted two public open house consultations on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in the Town Hall atrium to highlight and obtain feedback on the 2013-2018 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan and the consultation continues! In order to make Ontario accessible by 2025, municipalities need to plan ahead to ensure that all of the compliance requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 are met. The Plan highlights the achievements of the Town’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (A.A.C.) and the steps being put in place to reach the goals of an accessible community, one in which everyone can participate. Moving forward, the standards put in place impact the most important aspects of our lives including how persons with disabilities receive customer service, seek and retain employment, access transportation, are provided information and communication that is accessible and how public spaces are designed. Feedback on the Plan is being received up until March 8th and can be accessed on the Town’s web-site (click here)
