MOE Appreciative of Fort Erie Fire Department’s Work to Contain Oil Spill and Limit Environmental Impact

On January 25, 2016, Town Staff discovered a small oil spill on Edgemere Lane. Once discovered, the Fire Department quickly secured the area and closely monitored the situation until the Ministry of Environment (MOE) was able to conduct a proper investigation. The MOE completed its investigation yesterday (Jan. 28) and reported that they were very appreciative of download (3)the efforts that the Fire Department made to contain the oil spill and limit the environmental impact. The MOE is now working with the property owner to secure a demolition company that is also licensed to deal with hazardous waste, so that the site can be remedied in a timely manner.

A big shout out goes to our Fort Erie Volunteer Firefighters and all that they do for our community. We are lucky to have such an amazing group of people looking out for us. Thank you!
