Town Launches New Planning and Building Informational Videos

MEDIA RELEASE (March 16, 2018) The Town of Fort Erie officially kicked off this year’s development season with the launch of ten new informational videos. The videos are designed to highlight the information needed for certain types of building and planning applications as well as provide an explanation of the process for each type of application. Video topics include:

  • The Building Permit Process
  • Deck Permits
  • Shed Permits
  • Pool Permits
  • House additions
  • What is a Minor Variance?
  • The Minor Variance Process
  • What is a Severance?
  • The Severance Process
  • What is a Deeming By-law?

“These short, informational videos will give residents the information they will need to make their project a success and to avoid potentially time consuming and costly setbacks,” said Rick Brady, Director of Planning and Development Services.

The videos were created using Whiteboard animation, which is the process of which an author physically draws and records an illustrated story using a whiteboard and black marker.

The new informational videos can be found at www.forterie.ca (Residents > Home & Property) or at Town Hall at the Customer Service Unit desk and 2nd Floor, Planning & Development counter.
