Police Services Board to Hold Meeting in Fort Erie

MEDIA RELEASE (April 9, 2018) The Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Services Board is set to hold its regularly scheduled meeting on April 26, 2018, at 8:30 am in the Town of Fort Erie, located at Town Hall – Council Chambers, 1 Municipal Drive in Fort Erie. The doors are open to the public at 8:15 am.

In order to promote community awareness of the role of the Board and for Board members to stay in touch with community concerns over policing issues, the Board decided to be proactive in engaging, educating and hearing from the public by holding at least two off-site meetings a year as part of its regularly scheduled meetings. Members of the public, Council members, and community groups in Fort Erie are invited to attend and speak with the members of the Police Services Board, the Chief of Police and senior police staff.

Fort Erie Mayor Wayne Redekop welcomes the Police Services Board and is pleased to host its upcoming meeting. “This is a great opportunity for Fort Erie and I encourage our residents not only to attend but also to voice any concerns they may have regarding police services in our community,” said Mayor Wayne Redekop.

“There is often some confusion regarding who is responsible for what regarding enforcement. This meeting will help distinguish the differences as well as provide residents with the opportunity to ask questions regarding a wide range of topics, such as speeding enforcement, recreational vehicles on public roads and trails, and CCTV cameras on residential properties,” added Mayor Redekop.

Police Services Board Chair Bob Gale said, “The Board recognizes the importance of actively reaching out to our local communities and residents to engage the community on policing matters.” Chair Gale added, “There will be a public presentation from the Niagara Regional Police Service about local community safety issues and members of the community are encouraged to attend and exchange dialogue at this meeting.”

Copies of the Public Meeting Agenda are available on Tuesday, April 24th on the Niagara Regional Police Service website at www.niagarapolice.ca under Police Services Board; Agenda, or from the Board office, and limited copies will be available at the meeting.
