Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day 2018
There will be a Remembrance Day service in Fort Erie for Remembrance Day, on Sunday November 11 at with form up at 1:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 71, and service at Mather Arch at 2 p.m. Both of these services will be honouring the memory of those Canadians who laid down their lives for their country.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
John McCrae, 1915

There was also a very emotionally charged service at Ridgeway cenataph by RCL Branch 230 at 11 a.m. with many in attendance.
