Media Release (September 3, 2019) Last week, Town Council approved its 2018-2022 Strategic Plan. A strategic plan is a dynamic, strategic document that provides a snapshot of the current and future goals and objectives of Town Council.
“During the strategic planning process, residents and business owners were asked to comment on what they believe Council’s top priorities should be. Using this input, Council assessed the Town’s current status and identified opportunities for continued improvement,” said Mayor Wayne Redekop. “We will use this plan as a roadmap to drive relevant projects, initiatives and programs required to achieve our goals and objectives.”
The following strategic priorities were identified as Council’s top priorities:
- Optimizing Health, Housing & Social Well-Being through Service Access and Healthy Lifestyles
- Sustainable Infrastructure for the Future
- Attracting Interest and Investment through Strong Advocacy & Promotion
- Promoting Business, Economic Growth and Employment Opportunities
- Managed Growth through Responsibility, Stewardship and Preservation
Each strategic priority was developed with a corresponding objective that will be used to guide and measure the outcome of each area. The plan also identifies multiple actions that will be implemented over the next three years in order to achieve Council’s vision.
Based on Council’s strategic priorities, Town Staff will allocate the appropriate resources (financial and human) in order to move the priorities forward. Town Staff will also use the strategic plan as a progress reporting tool and will provide regular updates to Town Council.
The 2018-2022 Strategic Plan is available online or in hard copy at Town Hall (1 Municipal Centre Drive).
