FORT ERIE (March 17) The Town of Fort Erie continues to take COVID-19 seriously. In an effort to help minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Town will be making significant changes to services and programming to help protect the health and wellbeing of the community. Effective today, March 17 at Noon, all Town facilities will be closed to the public until April 5. Town facilities include:
- Town Hall
- Gibson Operations Centre
- Fire Halls
- Leisureplex Arena and Banquet Hall
- Crystal Ridge Arena and Community Centre
- Fort Erie Historical Museum
- Railway Museum
- Economic Development and Tourism Services
- Fort Erie Public Library (All Branches)
Due to these closures, all programs, permits, and third-party events will be cancelled. While Town facilities will be closed to the public, residents can still access Town services online, or contact Town representatives at www.contactus.forterie.ca or 905-871-1600, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alternative options for those needing to make a payment can be found at www.forterie.ca/resource/eservices.
All critical services, including water, sewer and road operations as well as fire services will continue to operate to support our community. For after-hours emergencies, including road or wastewater emergencies, residents are to call 905-871-1600.
The March 23 council meeting has not been cancelled, it will not be open to the public. Future meetings may be cancelled depending on the status of COVID-19. The Town streams all council meetings live on our YouTube Channel. Alternatively, council meetings are available the following Thursday at 1 p.m. on YourTV Niagara. At the present time, Fort Erie Transit is operating all routes as per the normal schedule, which includes Fort Erie Transit municipal routes, FAST and the inter-municipal routes.
