Town Facilities Close in Response to COVID-19 Concerns

FORT ERIE (March 15, 2020) While Niagara Region Public Health has reported the risks surrounding COVID-19 remain low to residents, Fort Erie is taking cautionary measures to ensure continued containment of the virus. Therefore, the Town of Fort Erie has enacted enhanced disinfection efforts at Town facilities, and will enact a series of closures. Effective today (March 15, 2020), until April 5, the following Town facilities will be closed to the public:

  • Arenas and Community Centres (Leisureplex and Crystal Ridge)
  • Fort Erie Museums (Heritage Museum, Railway Museum)
  • Fort Erie Libraries (All Branches)

As a result of these closures all Town programs and third-party events at the above locations will be cancelled.

Burials will continue at Town cemeteries however all other services will be unavailable during the closure period. Civil marriage ceremonies will also be cancelled until further notice. In addition, water meter replacements, repairs and inhouse water sampling will be discontinued moving forward. Bay Beach season passes will also not be available at Town Hall until May 1, 2020.

While the Town recognizes the closures will impact a host of users and organizations it is necessary, for the health of the public, to enact these precautionary measures. All individuals impacted by these closures will have their facility rental fees refunded without penalty and staff will work to reschedule the events in the future.

Hopefully the elderly will get what they need to get through this. (FOOD AND MEDICINE)
I’m not sure if I can help with delivering food for people in need but I am available for non contact deliveries.
