Fort Erie Celebrating Canada Day 2020 Virtually

FORT ERIE (June 29, 2020) Due to COVID-19, the Fort Erie Canada Day fireworks have been cancelled this year. Instead, the Town will be participating in a Virtual Canada Day Celebration, which features online activities throughout the day.

The following is the schedule for Canada Day Celebrations this year: 

11:00am: Canada Day Niagara Way – Communities from across the Niagara Region are coming together for a Canada Day first – Canada Day, the Niagara Way! Join the 12 municipalities of Niagara, the Niagara Parks Commission and the Niagara Region for online activities and festivities for Canada Day. Celebrate with performances by Tim Hicks, Avenue Inn, Great Lake Swimmers, Spencer Burton, Juliet Dunn and Peter Shea, and Rick McLean!

1:00pm: National Virtual Canada Day Celebrations (Day time Show) – The daytime show, Canada Day Across the Country, offers you a virtual tour of the celebrations. With hosts Serena Ryder and Pierre-Yves Lord, discover talented artists from Sudbury, Montréal, Québec, Moncton, Winnipeg, Yellowknife and Calgary. Celebrate our country’s cultural diversity, sporting excellence, Indigenous culture and languages, and the resilience of front-line workers. A nod to the 40th anniversary of the national anthem “O Canada” and many surprises await you.

2:00pm: Fun Facts about Canada Day – Learn and share fun facts with others.

3:00pm: Tik Tok Dance Party – Learn two new dances!

4:00pm: Trivia Show – Test your knowledge.

8:00pm: National Virtual Canada Day Celebrations (Evening Show) – The evening show, Canada Day Together, is a unique edition of Canada’s annual iconic celebration. Hosted by Serena Ryder and Pierre-Yves Lord, the show features original artistic collaborations between performers from coast to coast to coast, including stops in Halifax, Toronto and Vancouver. They have quite the show in store for you! Let yourself be entertained in the comfort of your home. The night winds up with a montage of the best Canada Day fireworks from past years.
