FORT ERIE (April 22, 2021) The Town of Fort Erie has started its street sweeping operation and it will last three to four weeks, weather permitting.
Roads with curbs and gutters will be targeted for street sweeping. Residents are encouraged to avoid parking on the roads during this time to allow sweepers room to operate.
The Town conducts two sweeps per year, one in the spring to clean up winter sand and one in the fall to clear leaves. Regular street sweeping reduces the chance of flooding in the event of heavy rainfall as it helps to keep the gutters and drains clear. It also reduces the likelihood of pollutants making it into storm water systems, reduces dust and other airborne contaminants.
