FORT ERIE (June 4, 2021) A report will go to Town Council on June 14, 2021, to consider a request of the Crystal Beach BIA to temporarily close the north side of Erie Road on weekends throughout the summer to enhance local business opportunities.
The request to turn Erie Road into a one-way street will start at Ridgeway Road and end at Schooley Road with a westerly flow of traffic. Pedestrians will have access to the north side of the street with vehicles occupying the south side of Erie Road. The road closure would begin Fridays at approximately 5 p.m. and end Mondays at 7 a.m. Traffic will be leaving the Crystal Beach area via signed detours on Schooley Road.
The purpose of this pilot project is to create a Summer Beach Crawl atmosphere with enough space for safe pedestrian movement and for businesses to expand their patios.
The proposed dates for the One-Way Erie Road request are as follows:
- July 2-5
- July 9-12
- July 16-19
- July 23-26
- July 30-August 3
- August 6-9

- August 20-23
- August 27-30
- September 3-6
