FORT ERIE (June 30, 2021) Yesterday, the federal and provincial governments announced their $51.2 million commitment to protect the health and well-being of residents in 129 municipalities across Ontario.
Thanks to this commitment, the Town of Fort Erie will receive $304, 231 to fund active transportation infrastructure improvements to Crystal Ridge Park and Albert Street Park. The funding will support the following improvements to both parks:
- new multi-use park pathways;
- new park furniture;
- a shade structure in each park; and
- a multi-use play court in Albert Street Park.
“By receiving this funding, we can make park improvements recommended in the Town’s new Albert Street Park and Crystal Ridge Park Master Plans. These improvements are designed to encourage active and healthy lifestyles through fitness and recreation as well as enhance the overall park experience. Funding initiatives like these make it possible for us to move forward on projects sooner than planned and we are very grateful for that opportunity,” said Tom Kuchyt, Chief Administrative Officer.
These projects will commence in the summer of 2021. For more information, please contact Signe Hansen, Manager, Community Planning, at shansen@forterie.ca or 905-871-1600, ext. 2506.
