agreement with The Fort Erie International Academy (FEIA) to provide residents access to drop-in recreational swimming and structured swimming lessons.

“I just wanted to bring attention to this. I think this is a wonderful idea,” said Councillor AnnMarie Noyes, “It’s a win-win situation. We’re looking at a 3-month summertime arrangement.
As the year goes along perhaps we can look at continuing this 12 months out of the year.”
Town of Fort Erie Parks and Facilities staff will oversee: hiring qualified staff, operating swim
programs, daily cleaning of the pool and change rooms, retaining all program fees, purchasing
chemicals, and maintaining insurance for the operation. Fort Erie International Academy has
invested $100,000 into capital improvements to the pool in preparation for its summer pool
programs and continued enjoyment by residents.
Staff will ensure that all patrons have access. The site meets AODA requirements, including a
manual pool lift, an elevator onto the pool deck, and an accessible washroom.
Ward 2 Councillor Nick Dubanow echoed the sentiment shared by Councillor Noyes,
“I think this is a fantastic idea that we’re doing here. It shows the cooperation between the
Town of Fort Erie and the Fort Erie International Academy to provide an indoor pool and
swimming lessons to the community. I think this is phenomenal. I hope this is something we can
continue.”
