Creative repurposing will provide significant community benefit
FORT ERIE (August 22, 2022) – At a Special Council Meeting held on August 11, 2022, Town
of Fort Erie Council reached a unanimous decision to sell the former Fire Station 6 property
located at 271 Ridgeway Road.
The Town of Fort Erie has entered into an Agreement of Purchase and Sale for the property
(271 Ridgeway Road) with Design Construct Solutions 2018 Inc. and M. Riad Mikhail Drugs Ltd.
As a condition of the sale, the former Fire Station 6 site will be creatively transformed into a
community-based health services centre. It will provide a minimum of two offices for medical
use, community health services, and a pharmacy, supporting the neighbourhoods of Crystal
Beach and Ridgeway.
The lower level is designated as health services and commercial while a proposed phase 2 on
the second (upper) level is residential. The new owners will approach the project in two phases,
beginning by transforming the current building into a health services facility with the opportunity
to add residential units on a second level at a future date.
“This is an excellent example of repurposing a significant building which, when completed, will
provide an important benefit to the community. The Fire Station 6 building was home to Crystal
Beach volunteer firefighters for many years and will now serve our community as a health and
medical services centre that we hope will attract new family doctors to serve the residents of
this part of our great town.” – Mayor Wayne Redekop
